Fave UK Place (Discussion)

acrosstheuniverse saidMon, 21 Jul 2008 21:13:04 -0000 ( Link )

Have you traveled there? Got any great shots to share? Or know of some places you’d love to see if you ever went there?

In this discussion we’ll post photos of our favourite places and why we think they shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Photography by Bien Stephenson and Mike Wiktor found through Creative Commons on Flickr.

So get out your cameras and/or your thinking caps, because we want to SEE what there is in the UK!

    Radcliffe Camera
Taken by flickr user wit under CC Attribution-Share Alike.

This historical building located in Oxford was built in the mid 1700s. The story behind this magnificent library as it stands now is that John Radcliffe commissioned a competition for the best design of this building. The winner was James Gibbs but the round design was influenced by Nicholas Hawksmoor. “Camera” in Latin means “room” or “chamber”.

I have so many favourite places in the UK!

One of them would have to be Piccadilly Circus in London. I’ve been there about 5 years ago, and I remember it was much more alive and bright than anywhere else in that city. It’s a nice central point from which you can get to the entire entertainment district, lots of theatres, and tons of other cool things too. If you’re ever in London, make sure to check it out!

Here comes a second awesome place in the UK:

This time it’s the Ibrox Stadium, right on the south side of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The Stadium houses the Glasgow Rangers, my favourite football club, and has been identified as a stadium of historical significance (!). It also holds the record attendance for a League game since 1939, and is one of only 2 stadiums in Scotland and 27 in total to possess UEFA’s 5-star rating. So, if you’re ever in Glasgow, you’ve got to come here and watch a Rangers game.

Oh, I can’t tell you how much I want to visit Wales and Scotland. My background is Welsh and I’ve been itching to travel there. Only time and money have held me back. I actually considered Working Abroad there for a while. There is plenty of opportunity for anyone.

    Just look at this picture:

    And this one:
