Big City vs. Rural University? (Discussion)

acrosstheuniverse saidFri, 18 Jul 2008 21:48:11 -0000 ( Link )

Which one would you prefer?

The nightlife, London-town experience, or a quaint, traditional Cambridge type institution to study away at?

What aspects of each would you enjoy? Which ones would you take away?

Personally, I would like the city experience, just because everything is so close and there’s always something to do. Plus, there’s no shortage of study space if you need it!

Sorry Krista, but I have to disagree.

If I’d gone to study in the UK (there’s still time! and hope!), I would much rather go to a nice, quiet university somewhere isolated, preferably in Scotland. The UK is a small place, so if I want to get to the big city for the weekend it wouldn’t take more than a few hours… but I think that the experience at the actual university, getting to know people and really connecting with your studies can only be achieved at a closed community, and the big city can’t offer that.

I could always go tour the big cities if that’s what I wanted to do… but for the study experience, I rather focus on a traditional institute type of place. But that’s just my opinion.
