M.S. In Electrical Engineering (Discussion)

Hi amit,

I’m a B.tech (Electrical Engg.) from N.I.T. Rourkela, I have a few doubts about doing my masters in Engg. from Europe especially the U.K. I’am going to appear in GRE in October 2nd week.

1. Is there a subject test or some other test i’ll have to appear for, like there’s GRE ?

2.How do apply in the universities , what’s the application procedure and how much time does it take ? I intend to get admission into their universities by January (Winter/fall session).

3.When should i ideally reserve my spot for giving the test and when is it advisable to give, if a test exists for applying in Masters programme in engineering?

4.Where can i get the rankings of colleges/universities (engineering)?

5.I don’t have knowledge of any european languages such as german/french so i’d like to do my higher education in english, especially in european countries such as Germany/France which have highly prestiged universities. I won’t have a problem in learning the language when I’m there. I can also start learning the language, say 1-2 months before joining the university, when my application is accepted by them.

6.If I do my higher education in english, from Europe/U.K. will my education be at-par with their other universities, where the medium of instruction is their language e.g. German? This problem I won’t be facing in the U.K., so I’m more keen for it. (Please correct me if I’m wrong).
